The Games (Book) : Kosmatka, Ted : "Silas Williams is the brilliant geneticist in charge of preparing the U.S. entry into the Olympic Gladiator competition, an internationally sanctioned bloodsport with only one rule: no human DNA is permitted in the design of the entrants.
Author Bio: Ted Kosmatka. Ted Kosmatka was born and raised in Chesterton, Indiana. He is the author of Prophet of Bones and The Games, a finalist for the Locus Award for Best First Novel, and one of Publishers Weekly’s Best Books of 2012.
I listened to The Games by Ted Kosmatka while we traveled from Duluth, MN to Rapid City, SD. All the hot new releases seem to always have a long holding period so I strolled the aisles at the library, found the sci-fi section, and this one spoke to me.

The author has taken the setting of the U.
What if we go here create a perfectly constructed killing machine?
Just because something can be done, doesn't always mean it should be.
This is a tale that draws in you and holds your attention as you wonder what Evan, Pea, Silas and his team have unleashed upon the world.
My only critique is that I thought the actual games should have been a bigger part of the story.
But aside from that, it is an engaging story that doesn't disappoint.
Unless you're a geneticist or in some similar field, a great deal of this story is just too technical and convoluted.
I did enjoy the story for the most part and as long as you don't spend much time trying to understand the intricacies of genetics and the explanations and implications of it all, you will probably enjoy it also.
The writing was well done.
At times, however, I felt like I was reading a medical journal.
You probably knew the games book ted kosmatka summary was going to happen from the get-go.
I felt the games book ted kosmatka summary I was reading a hybrid of Jaws and Alien.
You have the evil mayor of Jaws and the righteous sheriff trying to close down the beach except it's not a shark, but the creature from Alien.
The book progresses at a good pace although some of the VR stuff gets a bit self-indulgent.
The ending is such a cliché that it deserves a major eye roll.
This book brings in ethics of genetic engineering, the popularity of blood sports today, Science gone terriblly wrong AND what could happen if a "super computer" thinks for itself and becomes unhappy with its existence.
Last third of the book was very hard to put down, just had to see what would happen next.
If the games book ted kosmatka summary a SciFi fan and are interested in modern discussions in ethics - this one is for you.
I liked the premise of the book.
The author writes well and this was his first book.
The book was good enough to read from start to finish.
The character development was weak the games book ted kosmatka summary the story could have used some additional editing.
I think Ted Kosmatka has good instincts about a story.
I look forward to seeing what he will write next.
Makes you wonder what the future might be like if we go make genetically created creatures.
There's always a risk in everything we do, but could we create a new species that we then become no longer relevant?
Captivating characters, dramatic sequences, wonderful monsters, and the good guys dont always win.
This book really inspires the imagination.
You really get pulled in, and not difficult reading but it really makes you think and the science is seems just out of reach.
